Roman Ruins?
Ornamental columns erected on Pewterspear Green Road, Appleton. This recent housing development lies close to the old Roman road that left Warrington for the south. The site developers have erected columns like these in a few locations about the area to give it a Roman "flavour". SJ62388358

Footpath at Stretton, looking to new housing at Henbury Gardens
With a 'get off my land' sort of notice, a rash of which seems to have appeared in the area, posted by the Homes & Community Agency [HCA]. The HCA [which, living in Scotland, I had never come across] is the national housing and regeneration agency for England. It provides investment for new affordable housing and to improve existing social housing and for regenerating land. It was established in 2008, with statutory objectives listed in the Housing and Regeneration Act 2008. It would appear to have rather sweeping powers to ‘do anything it considers appropriate for the purposes of its objectives or for purposes incidental to those purposes’ and ‘a wide range of specific powers relating to the provision, facilitation and acquisition (including compulsory purchase, regeneration, development of effective use of land) of housing and infrastructure; establishing companies; providing financial assistance; providing or facilitating services for communities; and undertaking advisory, training, research and information services’.
