Warrington Town Hall at night
Viewed from adjoining Bank Park the Town Hall can be seen illuminated with a crescent moon high above.
The hall was designed by James Gibbs and built in 1750.
Its front south facade consists of nine bays, the outer three on each side being of exposed brick whilst the middle three are in ashlar-like rustication. This centre area has four large three-quarter attached composite columns with a pediment bearing the arms of the Patten family. In the middle also there is an open two arm staircase, with a fine wrought iron balustrade, leading up to the main entrance which is flanked by a pair of arched windows with the typical Gibbs surround. The pediments of the windows on the main floor in the side sections have alternating triangular and elliptical heads. The north side of the hall is completely of brick and altogether simpler.

Warrington Town Hall
Bank Hall, as it was originally known, was built in 1750 for Thomas Patten, a wealthy merchant. It was sold to Warrington Borough Council in 1870, and the surrounding land became Warrington's first public park.

Warrington Town Hall (Bank Hall)
Bank Hall was built in 1750. At the time, it was set in open fields which extended down to the River Mersey. Later, a perimeter wall was added around the grounds to provide some privacy as the population of Warrington began to grow.
The town council bought the hall, along with the 13-acre grounds surrounding it, in 1872. The building has been the Town Hall ever since, and the grounds are known as Bank Park, which were opened as the town's first public park in 1873.
The building is Grade I listed (http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1329725 The National Heritage List for England).
