Linotype and Machinery building
Recent demolition work has opened up this view of the impressive L&M building. Shame about the clutter in the foreground, but without the building work, we wouldn't have the view. I don't know what is going to be built here but the chances are the view will disappear again as the redevelopment progresses.
Linotype made typesetting machines that were used by printers all over the world, until the electronic revolution swept them away. They made printing presses too. This shot shows the offices, the works are behind. The buildings now house an assortment of businesses.

The Linotype Works, Bridgewater Canal
The massive Linotype Machinery Company works which was built in 1897 on the south bank of the Bridgewater Canal. It is the only substantial complex left on the Broadheath Industrial Park, which had the distinction of being the world's first industrial park, pre-dating Trafford Park by a decade.
