The end of the wires, Earlestown railway station
The catenary hasn't yet been built for electric trains running into the station, in the direction of Liverpool. Rather, it is currently (excuse the pun) used for diversions, through Newton-Le-Willows, from the West Coast Main Line.

Earlestown Station
Earlestown Station lies on the former Liverpool and Manchester Railway, which was opened on 15 September 1830. This is a view of platforms 1 and 2 which serve the Northern Rail services between Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool. The surviving station buildings were constructed around 1835. The waiting room on the Liverpool-bound platform is the oldest station building in the world still in passenger service, although its function is now limited to providing shelter from the rain under its canopy.
