Farmer Street
Seen from Notting Hill Gate. The road is closed off to through traffic and the stump provides a handy solo-motorcycles parking bay. Beyond is the junction with Uxbridge Street. In the distance, the buildings at the end of the road are on Hillgate Place. The streets and houses date to circa 1860 (Uxbridge Street and this end of Farmer Street were present on the 1850 map but without buildings).

Hillgate Place and Farmer Street
The pretty little streets around Hillgate Place between Notting Hill Gate and Holland Park are a delight. The only problem photographing them is all the parked cars. This is the eastern end of Hillgate Place where it meets Farmer Street.

The final journey
Passing through Notting Hill Gate station on the way from Moorgate to Earls Court and Lillee Bridge. Built by the Metropolitan Railway as part of its extension from Paddington to South Kensington, it is the one that best retains the atmosphere of London's original underground railways, having been relatively little rebuilt.
