Routemaster in Kensington Church Street
This is the 'extended' version of the Routemaster, recognisable by the extra small windows half way along both decks. It is working on Route 12, which in 1988 was still a very long route from Harlesden to South Croydon. This meant there had to be many different 'short working' buses, as this one, which will only go as far as Penge (Pawleyne Arms).

Astley House, Notting Hill Gate
People associate this area, if they think about it at all, with stucco terraces, bijou boutiques and Hugh Grant, but the area around the tube station is liberally dotted with 1960s concrete, redeveloped by Cotton Ballard & Blow for the London County Council in 1962. This block with pale-blue spandrels is probably sufficiently low so as not to provoke too much ire.

Czech Republic Embassy, Notting Hill Gate
Making a bold statement with its powerful motifs and use of concrete, faced in aggregate, and "a snub to classical good manners", thought Pevsner. Built in 1968-69 to the designs of J. Sramek, J. Bocan & K. Stepanski (from Prague) and Robert Matthew, Johnson-Marshall & Partners.
