Maggie's Centre London at Charing Cross Hospital
Maggie's Centres http://www.maggiescentres.org/maggies/maggiescentres/home/about/introduction.html provide places where people affected by cancer can call in and get support. "Maggie's offers information, psychological and emotional support and practical advice." This centre http://www.maggiescentres.org/maggies/maggiescentres/home/centres/london/introduction.html opened in April 2008 was designed by Richard Rogers. It was open to the public in June 2008 as part of Open Garden Squares week-end. Although it looks from outside that it would be dark inside as there are no windows in the ground floor wall, it is very light because there is light through the roof, it is very open inside, and the orange wall only goes a short distance up the first floor.

Grave of James Fletcher, Margravine Cemetery
James Fletcher was a Member of Hammersmith Borough Council and died in 1924. His rather flamboyant grave is next to the main east-west path and cannot be missed. Margravine (or Hammersmith) Cemetery was opened in 1868 and the first burial took place on 3 November 1869. The cemetery became a Garden of Rest in 1951 when the then Hammersmith Council, concerned at its dilapidated appearance, decided to remove as many memorials and bury as many tombstones as possible and lay the cleared land to grass.
