Primark, 1 King's Mall, King Street, W6
This is the Hammersmith branch of the Primark chain, who are renowned for their very popular and very inexpensive range of clothing. Unfortunately they are also renowned for continually being the subject of controversy, ranging from the alleged employment of "sweatshop" labour in third world countries, to "encouraging paedophilia" by selling a line of padded bras for young girls. It should be pointed out that the company robustly deny all these allegations.

Edward VII postbox, King Street, W6
Outside the Hammersmith Ram public house, by Angel Walk. The postbox was made by McCowall, Steven & Co. Ltd. of London & Glasgow, and their name appears at the bottom of the postbox, in the area painted black. The postbox must date from between 1901 and 1909. In the latter year the firm went out of business, though they were resurrected in 1916, by which time King George V was on the throne. The firm also made things like bandstands, seats and railings, drinking fountains and lamp standards, and much else. Postbox number: W6 30. Post code: W6 9HW. Last collection is 5.30 pm Monday to Friday and 12 noon on Saturday. A close-up of Edward VII's cipher:- Image The postbox can be seen inn this view:- Image

Hammersmith Ram, 81 King Street, W6
A Young's pub, which used to be known as The Builders Arms. Although the frontage to King Street is relatively narrow, the pub has considerable depth, and at the back there is a small garden. Young's brewery at Wandsworth was closed some years ago, and the brewing interests were merged with those of Charles Wells at Bedford, whose brewery now brews for both brands. Young's pubs, which total over 200, are now a separate company from the brewing concern, though they have a financial share in it. Image
