Ealing used to be described as a 'leafy suburb', and here - north of the Broadway - the description still applies. The turning a short distance ahead on the left is Westbury Road.

Ealing Village apartments and clubhouse.
Ealing Village was built in 1934-6 as a private estate of 128 rented apartments. There are five art deco blocks in colonial Dutch style. The building on the left of the photo is the clubhouse available to the residents, most of whom now own their apartments. Bike shed, former air raid wardens' lookout, Ealing Village
During World War 2, Ealing Village had underground air raid shelters. There are a number of entrances with concrete slabs over them. Another wartime building was this wardens' lookout, now used as the estate bicycle shed.
