Along the Towpath at Chiswick, London
University Boat Race day; with the crews of Oxford and Cambridge expected, along the River Thames, shortly. With the 2010 General Election date about to be announced, workers for one of the local candidates* make the most of the opportunity. They briskly march along the towpath at Chiswick, handing out blue balloons. They had some success, but many had hands full with cameras, binoculars, or wine glasses. * Mary Macleod, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Chiswick, Brentford, Isleworth, Syon, Osterley and Hounslow.

University Boat Race 2019
Seen passing Chiswick, with Cambridge leading by about a length and a half. Edited BBC report: Cambridge, who included double Olympic champion James Cracknell (No.2), beat Oxford for the second successive year to win the 165th Boat Race. Cracknell (aged 46) is the oldest person to compete in the Boat Race. Holding off a late Oxford push, the Light Blues crossed the line in 16 minutes 57 seconds, just two seconds ahead of their opponents.
