"Facilities" Mooring Near Little Venice
These bollards are for boats wishing to empty their elsans. The cob clearly did not want the Canada goose to enter his canal, they did a parallel "walk" backwards and forwards until the goose managed to sneak into the water much to the chagrin of the swan!

Rachel - narrowboat on Paddington Arm, Grand Union Canal
Rachel, of Bridgewater Worsley, is moored just before the canal narrows though a stoplock. The building seen along the towpath houses toilets for use of canal boat crews, a pump-out facility, and a water supply. Canal and River Trust offices are just beyond.

Blomfield Villas W2
That is the name of the street. Presumably these are some of the villas, but on the other side of the street now is modern housing.

View from Westbourne Terrace Road bridge
The Paddington Arm of the then Grand Junction Canal was opened in 1801 from Bull's Bridge near Southall to Paddington Basin. The first extension of the Regent's Canal from what is now Little Venice to Camden Town opened in 1816, and the Camden to Limehouse section opened four years later in 1820. This view looks from the bridge which carries Westbourne Terrace Road over the canal as it leaves Little Venice. The building on the left is the office of the Canal & River Trust - see http://canalrivertrust.org.uk/ Beyond is the Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal with boats moored on both sides. Delamere Terrace is on the left and Blomfield Road on the right. The canal towpath follows the Delamere Terrace side here.

Paddington Arm - stepped ramp access to Delamere Terrace
The towpath where it bends to the left past buildings is very narrow, one reason why cycling is not permitted on this section. The towpath surface for a short stretch here is block paving.

Paddington Arm - contradictory "Cycling not permitted" sign
This sign at the access from Delamere Terrace to the canal towpath seems illogical. It reads "Cycling not permitted - pedestrians have priority". If cycling is not permitted only pedestrians are allowed, so over whom do they have priority? Incidentally, the "No cycling" sign as given in the Highway Code does not have a bar across the bicycle - but the sign as shown here makes it clearer that cyclists are not allowed.

Grand Union Canal, Paddington Branch
The canal narrow sharply to the right, passing under Westbourne Terrace Road to enter the basin at Little Venice. Above the narrowboats are villas on Blomfield Road.
