Terrace at Tyburn
These town houses, overlooking Bayswater Road, were built at a time when the area was infinitely less traffic ridden ... although subject to regular public executions.
The first house, on the corner (which would have overlooked the triple Tyburn gallows), was once the London home of Lord Randolph Churchill (although he could not have witnessed any of the hangings since the last here was in 1783).
A few blocks down, on the main thoroughfare, is Tyburn Convent which was partly dedicated to praying for the repose of souls of Catholics martyred here in Elizabethan times.

Tyburn Convent, Bayswater Road, W2
Tyburn, the world famous convent near Marble Arch, was the site of "The King's Gallows" from 1196 to 1783, where they used to execute criminals.
It's official address is 8 Hyde Park Place despite being in Bayswater Road.
Sorry for the poor quality picture - this was taken from a very dirty window of a top deck of route 148.
