Old Milestone by the A4020, Milestone Cottage - Right stone
Carved stone post by the A4020, in parish of Denham (South Bucks District), Oxford Road; by No. 82, South of Denham roundabout off M40, right of gate of Milestone Cottage, East of Indian Sunrise restaurant, on East side of road. Erected by the Red Hill & Beaconsfield turnpike trust in the 18th century. Inscription reads:- HALF A MILE FROM THE RIVER COLNE Carved benchmark at bottom of face. Listed as one of a pair together with: BU_LW16 Image Grade II listed. New Denham: Smith's Nurseries and the A4020 Oxford Road
Smith's Nurseries http://www.smiths-nurseries.co.uk/ is a family business established in 1931 by the grandfather of the current owner. The A4020 used to be the A40 road to Oxford until the new dual carriageway was built bypassing Uxbridge entirely.

New Denham: Tiger Cubs Indian brasserie and the A4020 road
