Cowley Lock on the Grand Union Canal, 1990
Cowley locks looking south along the Grand Union Canal. This picture was taken at the start of an ambitious pub-crawl from Uxbridge to Southall along the canal towpath. Luckily, nobody fell in.

Fray's River at Cowley Lock
The river crosses the canal at the lock. This is the view looking down from the garden of the Toll House. I am not sure whether the river is piped under the canal, or is fed by spillways from the canal.

Toll House Caf? at Cowley Lock
This was the lock-keeper's cottage. Outdoor and indoor tables, hot drinks, cakes, and hot meals. When I visited it was a hot day so I enjoyed a choc ice.

Cowley lock 89
This is always a busy point, because just above the lock is a water point and a pub (the white building, the Shovel). Beyond is bridge 188. Today the area is relatively quiet. The lads were hanging around and not really helping, but did move off the lock gates when we asked them to.
