West Drayton: Railway Arms public house
West Drayton was once a railway junction with lines north to Cowley and Uxbridge and south to Colnbrook and Staines, and the Grade II listed Railway Arms dates from that heyday. This view was taken from the eastern end of Colham Mill Road while the white sign on the post on the pavement outside the pub shows the point at which the main road name changes from Station Road on the right to the High Street on the left.

Station Road, West Drayton UB7
Another archive photo from my working days. As I recall I was involved in the future of the vacant car accessories shop with the red fascia to the right of Gamesconnection. I left this part of the world soon after for the rolling hills of West Oxfordshire but I see that the premises are now occupied by an Indian-themed takeaway called Kashmiri Grill.

West Drayton 1st railway station (site), Greater London
Opened in 1838 by the Great Western Railway on the line from London Paddington to Reading, this station closed in 1884 when the main line was quadrupled, resulting in the current station being built 200m further east. View west towards Iver and Slough, from the current station. From 1856 it was the junction for Uxbridge Vine Street and later, Staines West. The first station was located beyond the road underbridge, at the point where the lines diverging to the right can be seen. Sign for The Railway Arms, Station Road
See Image I think it's highly unlikely that a steam engine of the type illustrated would ever have passed through West Drayton station.

The People's Snack Bar in Tavistock Road
A very long-established concern which appears in the 1953 film 'Genevieve', where Kenneth More and John Gregson have a scrap before making friends again and eating ice creams on the steps of the nearby De Burgh Arms in square Image
