Cyclists on the towpath
A group of cyclists negotiates their bikes through a barrier on the Grand Union canal towpath. Cycles are permitted here: the barrier is to prevent motorcycles, but it was tricky for the two pairs of tandem riders in the group.

Paddington Arm, Grand Union Canal, Hayes, Middlesex
The Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal runs for some 13.6 miles from Bulls Bridge Junction, where it joins the main line, to Paddington Basin. There are 20 locks, falling from Bulls Bridge. Just a few furlongs from the eastern end, junction is made with the Regent's Canal. In this picture we are looking westwards towards Bulls Bridge, which is visible in the distance, and a line of privately-owned boats is seen on the further bank, the autumnal colours of the bushes above still visible in mid-November.
