Carlyle Avenue closed
Work was going on both here and in particular behind the camera which involved continuous pumping of what appeared to be a large volume of fluid out of a hole and down a manhole. Bus route diversions were in operation.

105 bus coming off route diversion
Normally the route goes straight across this crossroads, but Carlyle Avenue in the foreground was closed. The route was diverted along North Avenue and North Road.

Deloitte's Almshouses, Jubilee 1897
Endowed by William Deloitte to commemorate Queen Victoria's Jubilee. I presume this was William Welch Deloitte, 1818 - 1898, the founder of the international accountancy firm which still bears his name. The almshouses are still in use as sheltered accommodation.
