The Greenway meets Ickenham Road, West Ruislip
The footpath diversion signed relates to the HS2 works extending along the north side of the railway: see Image Bunches of flowers are taped to the pole supporting the street nameplate, suggesting a recent fatality on this very busy road.

Hedge, The Greenway, West Ruislip
These hedges of Photinia x fraseri are seen in front gardens everywhere. The shrub is shamelessly promoted as a fast-growing evergreen hedging plant; it's up there in the same league as Japanese privet, cherry laurel and Leyland Cypress. They are all a lot of work to keep neat through the summer. The young leaves are the selling point: bright red, but the thing turns out to be spectacular in flower. It's vigorous in growth, so the question about this example (and others seen this spring) is 'Is it meant to be this height or has it got away?' Image reference: 7506631

Fair and Squayre
Wheyre oh wheyre did we get "fayre" from? It's a totally bogus word in this context. Yes, I rant. Yes, I should stand in Pedant's Corner. But d'you know what?....I don't cayre. This is Ickenham Road, West Ruislip, just opposite the Underground station.
