Kew Bridge Steam Museum, steam launch Eva
This was in the workshops for restoration by Historic Steam Ltd. It is now in the Museum of Rowing at Henley on Thames. I was disappointed that the museum would not allow photography then delighted when I later discovered that I had photographed it here where nobody objected.

Kew Bridge Steam Museum - Hammersmith beam
A hollow-work Cornish beam engine beam (or bob) from an engine that was used at Hammersmith Waterworks. The area round it has been landscaped and turned into a pleasant garden for museum visitors. The beam could use some conservation work as it is looking a bit rusty.

Dangerous species No. 1 - museum visitors
Kew Bridge Steam Museum. This area contains the Hindley waterwheel pumping set and several interactive exhibits, including one to wet the kiddies. Any curator will confirm that the public are a danger to his exhibits and sometimes to themselves too.

Kew Bridge Steam Museum
The large building is the engine house for the 100" Cornish beam engine with the 90" house directly behind it and in communication with it. The tall structure is the standpipe tower (not a chimney). The engines pumped over a loop of pipe producing a head of about 180'. The loop also had an ascending open atmospheric limb to provide room for surge. This standpipe protected the engines against catastrophic loss of load if a main burst downstream of the pumping station.
