Virgin Atlantic hangar at Heathrow Airport
At the east end of the airfield. The green "aircraft" is used for fire and emergency training purposes.

Heathrow Airport, Hangars 3 & 4 in 1990
The hangars pictured here in early 1990 were two of the airport's original hangars built in the 1940s, and originally intended to last 10 years. Early residents were BOAC's Avro Yorks and Canadair Argonauts.
In the 1960s they were used for maintenance of Viscounts and BAC 1-11s by British Eagle, but by the time these pictures were taken they had seen their last aircraft and were in use for air freight transhipment by Heathrow Forwarders' Bond Ltd., a consortium of major shipping agents. The hangars have since been demolished.

Heathrow Airport, Hangar 1 in 1990
This is the original 1940s-built Hangar 1 at Heathrow, a very short time before it was completely demolished in the spring of 1990. The picture was taken from Exeter Road near the main British Airways hangars. This site is now occupied by the enormous British Midland Airways maintenance hangar.
