Footbridge at Hounslow station
Hounslow station was opened in 1850 by the London & South Western Railway. Although it has recently had an extensive revamp, the original station buildings have been retained. This view looks up the line towards Isleworth but trains go from either platform to Waterloo, the ones from the down platform on the right proceeding via Kingston.

Looking northeast from the London end of the station we see a long lattice-girder footbridge, which runs through from Maswell Park Road on the south side to Ivy Road on the north, but which cannot be accessed directly from either platform. Further on is a road bridge carrying Heath Road, an unclassified suburban road.

Looking west from the London end, this ives a good overall impression of this suburban station. One can actually travel to Waterloo from either platform here, as many of the Down trains return there via Twickenham and Kingston. Up trains reach Waterloo via Brentford.
