College Rag Returns!
The students at Borough Road Teacher Training College, used to hold a college rag (parade) in order to raise money for charity. Marching Bands & Floats walked all the way from the college in Isleworth through Hounslow and back collecting money on the way. The photo shows the returning parade passing Morgan & Son Ltd. builders merchants just East of Hounslow Bus Garage in 1961.

Hounslow Town railway station (site), Greater London
Opened in 1883 by the Metropolitan District Railway as the terminus of the line from Central London, this station closed in 1886 when the line was diverted to Hounslow Barracks (now Hounslow West). It reopened in 1903 only to close permanently in 1909.
View north east at the site. The main building was on the corner of the road opposite and the station up on a viaduct that ended abruptly at the road - the original plan having been to carry on over the road and join the town's main station. This never happened so the station was left on a dead end spur. The site became a bus station in 1912 - and still was in 2018.
