Trees by the River Crane, December
As I took this shot (not long before sunset on a gloomy afternoon) many hundreds of jackdaws were gathering in the tree tops before going to roost. From time to time they took to the air, all calling at once - giving out an enormous roar which might have come from Twickenham stadium! Also part of the 'sound-track' have to be the shrieks of dozens of ring-necked parakeets, never far away these days in the outer suburbs of west London.

Conker trees in Crane Park
The path runs roughly parallel to the River Crane, though not always close to it. The trees with exposed roots are both horse-chestnuts.

These are not stepping stones in the River Crane
Although they look like it, these are not actually stepping stones as they change over to branches just ahead. I think they are designed to manipulate the river flow.

River Crane
A natural looking section within a wilder part of Crane Park, except for the flow deflectors, made of hurdles and stones. They are to produce varied flow speeds for the benefit of river wildlife.
