A footpath and cycleway goes beside the Duke of Northumberland's River through the middle of Thames Water's Mogden Sewage Treatment Works. The works was constructed in the 1930s to cope with the expansion of west London and has been extended and upgraded over the years ever since. The Duke's River was diverted into the course shown here to provide water for the treatment process.
