River Thames: Teddington Lock
Teddington Lock marks the upstream limit of the tidal River Thames and the first lock was built here in 1810. Prior to the construction of the lock the river was tidal as far upstream as Kingston. This is the very long (650 feet or 198 metres) and wide (24 feet 9 inches or 7.5 metres) barge lock which was constructed in 1904-1905.
