Willows for the chop
The mature willow trees seen here (one in full view, the other adjacent to the photographer) can be dated quite precisely as they were planted at the time of construction of the adjacent church Image - 1964. So they grew for 48 years, but due to their roots repeatedly blocking nearby drains permission has been given for them to be felled and replaced with a smaller species of tree.

Saint Richard's Church
Saint Richard's Church is an Anglican church on Ashburnham Road, Ham, in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
The church was built as part of a substantial housing development, on land given by the construction company Wates. The foundation stone was laid, on 19 September 1964, by Norman Wates.
