Ham Street: Grey Court, formerly known as Grove House
The GLC blue plaque commemorates John Henry Newman - known to the world as Cardinal Newman - who spent part of his boyhood here. I believe the house now forms part of the accommodation of Grey Court School.

The Great South Avenue, Ham (2)
The view is north (or rather NNW) towards Sandy Lane and Ham House. A bridleway (with puddle!) runs parallel to the footpath.

Threatening evening sky over Ham
March 2012 certainly went out like a lamb, with temperatures of over 20C widely reported. But April came in quite boisterously - if not like a lion, then at least like a lion cub. This was the evening sky over Ham on the 12th - the view is a little to the east of south.

Commemorative plaque, Tollemache Almshouses, Ham Street
The plaque seems to have been built up as a mosaic, from gold-glazed tiles - and I was reminded of certain paintings by Gustav Klimt. As I passed by it was glinting in the late afternoon light - none the worse for 124 years' exposure to the elements.
