Old School House
Dating from the 19th century this building formerly served its time as the Lyric cinema, one of the smallest in the country. It closed in 1965. Later it housed an antiques shop. In 2010 it has been converted into offices.

Bengal Tiger
The stone faced building was the first grammar school built in Stokesley. It was built in 1832 with money bequeathed by John Preston, an attorney of Stokelsey. It is now an Indian take-away.

Former School, Stokesley
The Preston School was built on one of the 'islands' in the irregularly shaped series of squares in Stokesley in 1832. It is now a Chinese take away.

Sign for the Spread Eagle
An eagle with its wings spread out was established as a national emblem by the Romans. It is associated heraldically with many countries, including Austria, Germany, Russia, Spain and France. British noble families who make use of a spread eagle in their coats of arms usually 'imported' the device after trips to foreign parts, beginning with the Crusades.
