The Newquay Branch Line near St Columb Road
The old tracks and sleepers piled up at the side of the line point to a programme of rail replacement and improvement on this line. In fact this is happening on all Cornish branch lines. Normally each line is closed for two weeks at a time in a rotating programme of work, although as it is now Summer all lines are open.

St Columb Road
This photograph shows the road junction which might be regarded as the centre of the village of St Columb Road. I don't actually know how this village got its name but if I was asked to guess I would say that it took its name from the railway station, which implies that the railway came first and the village grew later.
