Engine house chimney
A delightful chimney emerging from charactersitic heathland. This appears to be associated with the South Wheal Towan mine, but it is situated at a low topgraphic leve, the better for draining the ground.

The Chapel on the Hill
As the name suggests, Porthtowan's active methodist church is situated on the plateau land at the head of a steep valley to the southwest of the village and high above it.
