Penryn Railway Station, Penryn, Near Falmouth, Cornwall
On the Truro-Falmouth branch line. Single track working at this point (and therefore only one platform). But since this photograph was taken, a passing loop has been installed - see Image - to allow a more frequent service.

Passengers Disembarking at Penryn Station
This is evidently a very popular service. It is Saturday afternoon and the train appears to have been full of passengers returning from a shopping trip to Truro. Despite the popularity of the route it is still threatened with closure which would mean people would have to take the bus service between Falmouth and Truro, leaving them at the mercy of rush-hour traffic jams. The company which runs the bus service is the same one which has just taken over the franchise to run the railway line.
