Building with two tall chimneys, Galmpton
These chimneys need to be this high, no doubt,as a result of the local wind conditions. However, painted white, they are an attractive feature of this building opposite the Flavel Chapel hall

Vale House, Robert Graves's Residence 1940-1944
Robert Graves lived in this house, Vale House, from 1940- 1944. One wonders what his thoughts and feelings might have been at this time, as he had had such a deep involvement in the First World War. He wrote "Goodbye to All That" a bitter autobiography about his experiences.

Galmpton Open Gardens with Scarecrow Trail
Bunting for the Open gardens event has been displayed on the school railings. It looks as if it has been made by the schoolchildren from scraps of different dress materials, etc. It is effective and if this creative activity has been carried out by the children, it has a useful practical outcome with value for the local community. It's good to see something home made like this drawing on the old traditions, rather than a ready-made plastic product at the end of a marketing conveyor belt.
