The neo-classical building on Market Street dates from 1850, and was boldly repainted in the 1980s by Narracott, Tanner and Andre. This is just the pedimented main entrance. Listed https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1206800?section=official-list-entry :"Bays divided by Doric pilasters, rising from plinth and paired on either side of the main doorway and every 3 bays. Round-headed doorway with vermiculated rustication and a pedimented gable; pair of fine cast-iron gates with spear-head finials and a band of roundels. I was reminded of what used to be a back street in the 1970s by noticing that the name still appears on maps, at least for this eastern arm. It followed the line of Union Square, the shopping mall in the background. And whatever you may think, Torquay shows it is well ahead of the time; J J's Christmas Shoppe is open in the market, and it's still April.

A somewhat discomforting advert - at least I presume it's an advert for the series "Sky Crime" - at the east entrance to the shopping mall, which seems to encourage suspiciousness. Are those responsible for emptying the bin expected to examine it in detail?
