I was reminded of what used to be a back street in the 1970s by noticing that the name still appears on maps, at least for this eastern arm. It followed the line of Union Square, the shopping mall in the background. And whatever you may think, Torquay shows it is well ahead of the time; J J's Christmas Shoppe is open in the market, and it's still April.
