The granite post is also shown and described at Image, and listed http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1240583&searchtype=mapsearch . "On north-east face is carved TO BOVEY, on north-west face TO MANATON, on south-west face TO ILSINGTON, and on south-east face TO NEWTON." The latter two are shown here, but you would need a more favourable sun direction for each to make them photograph clearly.
