Lake Farm
The farmhouse is "Late C16 or early C17, altered 1661" http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1242528&searchtype=mapsearch ; South Lake Cottage is mapped at the same site, and is "formerly a longhouse. C16 or C17" http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1242529&searchtype=mapsearch . To be honest, I'm not sure which is which. A very charming group of buildings, anyway, seen here from the land through Poundsgate.

The beginning of Poundsgate
The entrance to the left is the drive to Spitchwick Manor. The signs make clear that it is not open to the public in vehicles or on foot, but the next path joins up with it anyway.
