The Lincombe estate was built up in the mid nineteenth century. Cherry and Pevsner point out how "cunningly" the houses are laid out, set close to uppr roads for the service entrance, but approached from lower roads "up long leafy drives which give the illusion of much larger estates". The casual visitor to the older parts of the estate receives the impression of broad roads contouring steep slopes, old walls, mature trees, and occasional glimpses of Victorian villas.

Modern houses, traditional style
These houses at the junction of Hesketh Road and Meadfoot Sea Road are fairly recently built, but retain a Regency style to better blend in with other properties in the area.
(My apologies for the ghostly whiteness and spooky shadows - it's down to bright sunlight on a winter day)!
