The Valiant Soldier, Buckfastleigh
The Valiant Soldier is a former pub, a time capsule from the point the landlady gave up her license in 1965. Unfortunately it hasn't served beer since then, the bar prices would be heaven..... It is now run by Teignbridge District Council in conjunction with the local community. The Information Centre is based there, and there are plans for an improved Museum area and for a local Archive area. This room is the lounge, in the upstairs private living quarters. See Image and Image for the exterior and street setting.

The King's Arms
This photo was taken on the last day of trading for the King's Arms. By happenstance a coach party of CAMRA members was visiting Image and after a tour of the museum went into the King's Arms and they managed to ensure no Real Ale went to waste! See Image The photo above was taken looking along Fore St.

The Valiant Soldier pub
The Valiant Soldier is a former pub now a museum. When it closed in the 1960s and the last person walked out through the door, for some unknown reason, as if time stood still, it remained untouched. Unfinished drinks remained in their glasses even money in the till remained untouched. Now it is open to the public to see what pubs were like back in the 1960s and well worth a visit.

The Pub With No Beer!
This is the Valiant Soldier Museum. The pub closed its doors in 1965 and even then it was frozen in the early 1950's. The landlady continued to live in it until the mid 1990's leaving the bar areas virtually untouched. In 1997 the property was bought by the council and painstakingly recorded before being restored and turned into a Museum, "The Pub Where Time Was Never Called" http://www.valiantsoldier.org.uk/ see inside and some more pictures at http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=30020128
