Housing and bus shelter, South Brent
On the left is modern housing arranged at right angles to Sanderspool Cross, at the far left. Confusingly, Sanderspool Cross is also the name of the roundabout (see Image) further up the B3372, which is on the extreme right. On the right, a significant bus stop - it's the London Inn, timed calling point for the X80 and X38 services from Plymouth to Exeter and Torquay respectively. Except that it's about 100 metres up the hill from the London Inn, which is in a different square (see Image, which shows it). For a somewhat superior bus shelter nearby, see Image However, I was grateful for this one, as my bus was almost half an hour late.

Ugborough Beacon, from South Brent
This illustrates how near the modern street scene in South Brent is to Dartmoor. Ugborough Beacon, seen here from the Brakefield housing estate, is a prominent feature, and the paths climbing to the top from Peek Moor Gate can be seen amongst the midsummer bracken that covers the Beacon.

Starling
Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) feeding on fat block in our garden. The plumage of these birds in winter is a wonderful mix of iridescent colours. The white spots fade as spring comes.

An observant Pied Wagtail
This Pied Wagtail (Motacilla alba yarrellii) was busy feeding in our garden. His head is cocked as he was underneath a fat block watching for pieces of food dropped by the starling above.
