Baird Court in Station Road, Bexhill
These recently built apartments are on the site of John Logie Baird's last house. Baird, a pioneer in the invention and development of television, demonstrated the world's first live working television system on 26 January 1926 and did much of his work while living in nearby Hastings. However, he is credited with patenting the first recording and playback machine while living in the house formerly on this Bexhill site before his death in 1946. For a photo of Baird's original house on this site, see https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5490304

Historical Building Site, Bexhill-on-Sea
The significance of this site is that previously there stood a private house which at one time was occupied by John Logie Baird. Some of his first work in inventing television took place whilst he lived here before he moved to Hastings.
