Vegetated ditch at Rye Foreign
Ditches like this are valuable for both flora and fauna and are declining habitats in Britain. This is just north of the Rye Road, A268, and the house top left is called Hatchets. The ditch ultimately drains into the river Tillingham which joins the Rother at Rye.

Old Milestone by the A268, Rye Road, Morfey Wood
Stone post (plate lost) by the A268, in parish of RYE FOREIGN (ROTHER District), Rye Road, in front of Royal Oak car park on verge, on North side of road. Rye iron plate, erected by the Rye turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription once read:- (London) (60) (Rye) (2½) East Sussex HER listed. Hare and Hounds, Rye Foreign
The village consists of a few scattered cottages and farms and this inn. It did contain a church but the parish, which was formed in 1894, was disbanded in 1934 and the former church is now in secular use.

Cordbatt Cottage, Rye Foreign
Small thatched gingerbread type cottage in the small village of Rye Foreign which is located about 5 miles from Rye itself. The village was settled in the 13th century after a dispute between some Rye residents and its then owners the French monastery of Fecamp and derived its name from the Latin forinseca meaning out of bounds as they moved out of the jurisdiction of the town.
