Lydd Town Station
The station was known as Lydd Station until 1937 when Lydd-on-Sea station was opened and "Town" was added to its name. The level crossing was added in the early 1960s to cater for heavy construction traffic bound for Dungeness Nuclear Power Station (whose buildings can be seen on the horizon in this view). The brick goods shed still stands in the former goods yard and looks in better condition than the station building. The building beside the right hand level crossing gate housed the ground frame to operate the crossing gates and associated signals - see http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/l/lydd_town/index31.shtml for photos and information on the station before and after closure.

Lydd Town Railway Station
The station buildings are still in remarkable condition, which may be partly due to the fact that the line is still open, as it is used by trains carrying nuclear fuel flasks from Dungeness Power Station to be reprocessed elsewhere in the UK.
