Bilting Mushrooms
Part of the farm is converted to small units aimed at young start up businesses. One of the first mushroom farms in the country. The farm is now growing only for the farmers' markets. They are also selling increasing amounts of mushroom compost, to gardeners and landscape companies. This product is becoming very scarce as the number of farms in the U.K. diminish. In fact Bilting is one of only two working mushroom farms in Kent. This is a far cry from 20 years ago when there were dozens of mushroom growers in the county. This grower was one of the first to introduce Chestnut mushrooms to the UK. See; http://www.mushroom-compost.co.uk/home_mushroom_compost.htm
