View from Heathfield long stay car park
Set rather higher than the A265 and accessed around the back of the fire station, the car park overlooks the westbound bus stop, and across the A265, the police station. The bus is parked in the bus stop layby facing the wrong way round, and carrying a school service blind.

Northern Portal, Heathfield Tunnel
Built in 1880 as part of the Polegate-Tunbridge railway better known as the Cuckoo Line and closed with the rest of the line in 1968. It re-opened in 2001 for pedestrian access to the newly opened Millennium Green though was closed to the public for a few years after an attempted rape. It re-opened again in 2007. The gates were designed by children from local schools in conjunction with Sussex sculptor Hamish Black.

Old railway tunnel to Millennium Green
This disused 240 m tunnel under the Co-op supermarket at Heathfield looks exactly like the one in Enid Blyton's "Five go off to camp", but without the "spook train" !
