Daffodils in The Wilderness at Ightham Mote
This area was devastated by the Hurricane of October 1987. These daffodils were quite late to flower.

Tree in the garden, Ightham Mote
This tree has small heart-shaped leaves, already turning yellow for autumn. My best guess is a species of Lindera.

Ightham Mote, north gardens
Ightham Mote is a moated manor house built in 1320 with later additions. It is the subject of the largest conservation project ever undertaken by the National Trust.
The gardens are receiving extensive restoration as well, and it is well worth going on a garden tour with one of their experts.

Ancient sweet chestnut at Ightham Mote in December
Ightham Mote, which originally dates from the 14th century, is surrounded on all four sides by its moat. The Mote of Ightham Mote refers to an ancient meeting place. This is in the gardens to the north of the house.
