Canal at Adderley Wharf in Shropshire
The local farmer has a small shop by the top lock ahead, selling local fresh meat, home made sausages and pork pies, cakes etc. (Very tasty too!)
Queues of boats often form here because so many crews start north from Market Drayton at similar times in the morning.

Adderley Wharf Bridge, Shropshire
Beyond the bridge (No 69) is Adderley Top Lock. There are five locks in the Adderley flight. There is often a queue of boats here at the top of the Adderley Locks. That is very convenient for the local farmer who has a small shop by the top lock, selling local fresh meat, home made sausages and pork pies, cakes etc. (Very tasty too!)

Adderley Lock No 1 south of Audlem, Shropshire
There are five locks in the flight at Adderley, altogether changing the water level by thirty-one feet (about nine and a half metres). This is at the top lock, just below Adderley Wharf Bridge (No 69). The gate is open to allow a descending narrowboat to enter the chamber. It is always recommended that gates should be left closed when locks are not in use, to minimise water loss from the pound above.
