The bridge carried the former GWR Wellington to Nantwich line across this lane.

The doors and ground-floor windows of the Seven Stars are now boarded up, presumably to discourage vandalism and unwanted 'guests' at this former pub.

A slightly weathered OS cutmark on the wall at the front of the (closed) Seven Stars; originally levelled in 1958 at 61.756m above Ordnance Datum Newlyn.

This railway bridge has not been used for some years.

This public house is for sale and seems to be closed. Situated on the A442 road, it is in the geographic county of Shropshire but in the administrative area of Telford & Wrekin Council. The pub was owned by the company which owned the Oakwell Brewery in Barnsley. In April 2013 the company was closing its brewery and selling the site and all its widely dispersed estate of about 30 pubs. The pub had three small rooms, one with a pool table, and outside a large beer garden with children's play area. The building dates from 1876, according to the date which appears above the first floor front window. Unfortunately its future prospects are not helped by the fact that another nearby pub on the A442 is also currently closed and for sale. Image Image Image

The sign shows the seven stars in the sky which form the constellation of Ursa Major, which is often known as The Plough. The latter is a frequent sign for pubs, particularly in rural areas where agriculture is or used to be the major occupation. Pubs called Seven Stars are far less common, but there are still a few around. See also:- Image

This public house had the misfortune to be part of the Oakwell Brewery owner's pub estate. When they decided for economic reasons to stop brewing in April 2013 and sell the brewery site and close all the pubs by the 2nd June 2013 and sell them too, this pub's fate was sealed.
