The old garden walls at Apley Castle
Although described as 'former kitchen garden walls' on the Listed Buildings site at https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101030948-former-kitchen-garden-walls-to-west-of-stables-at-apley-castle-hadley-leegomery#.WSdC49QrLGg, local information from residents suggests that these actually originally surrounded the castle's formal garden. That garden has now had several houses built on it, so it's rather hard to tell for sure. Either way, the walls attracted a Grade II listing in 1989, and are more or less continuous around the small housing estate.

It was re-roofed by Wrekin Council in the 1990s, and has roughly 200 nesting cavities (60 or so on each of three walls, plus a few on the wall that contains the doorway.) It's currently used by the Friends of Apley to store a collection of assorted handtools.

Entrance to the icehouse at Apley Castle
Mysteriously, this icehouse portal and the interior escaped the attention of the Historic Buildings inspectors in the 1980s, when the rest of the estate was gaining its Listed Buildings status. The Friends of Apley have excavated roughly 12 or 14 feet into the dungeon-like interior of the icehouse, but haven't yet reached the floor; it's a work in progress.
