Duke Street, Wellington
The Dun Cow pub on the left dates from the 18th century and is grade II listed. Until the 1870s the street was called Dun Cow Lane. The Wellington Community Clock can be seen in the market square.

The Dun Cow, Wellington
Built in the 18th century, and with alterations in the form of the ground floor windows in the 19th, The Dun Cow was given its Grade II listing https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101292478-dun-cow-public-house-wellington#.XIWGdSj7TIU in 1983.

2 & 3 Market Square, Wellington
Very similar in style to a number of other buildings in and around the market square, nos 2 & 3 date from the late 18th or early 19th century, and were Grade II listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101352012-2-and-3-market-square-wellington#.XIYW3Sj7RPY in 1983.

Recreation of Frith's, Market Square, Wellington
An attempt to recreate a Frith's photo from 1903. The buildings on the right have been replaced but the bank on the corner remains, as do most of the others. The black and white building, in the square still exists and is now a branch of "Subway" fast foods.

Looking into the market place from Duke Street. The clock looks like a relatively recent addition to the furnishings. I get the impression that the Christmas decorations look pretty good at night!

Wellington: Christmas decorations catch the sun
Looking into the sun, along the end of Church Street towards the Market Place. The illuminations are quite effective even in broad daylight, because of the way they are catching the sun.

This modern looking clock stands in Image The Christmas tree apparently dangling in mid air is of course suspended from wires hung across the street.

1 Market Square, Wellington
Now occupied by Subway (sandwich makers) no 1 Market Square dates back to the late 16th or early 17th century, and attracted a Grade II listing https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101209815-1-market-square-wellington#.XIWFdSj7TIV in 1983. The ground floor shop and windows are a 19th century alteration to the original house.

Market St. Wellington
Market Street, Wellington looking toward the Market Square. Don't know why they bother painting yellow lines, not too many take any notice of them. Still, I expect they will "only be a minute", in the Post Office??
