Swan family on the canal
2 adults and 6 cygnets, although only 5 of them are visible in this photo. Taken during a work party trip to 'tidy up' this stretch of the canal for the summer fishing season at a time when the Shifnal Angling Club leased the fishing rights. The canal at that time was a good venue for small roach, bream, rudd, perch etc, plus a healthy population of tench to about 2lbs, and some common carp which we introduced from a pool near Albrighton; Severn Trent Water permission was gained for that transfer. Photo scanned from an AGFA CT100 slide image.
